LED Light Therapy: How LED Light Therapy Is Changing The Beauty Game

LED Light Therapy on the Gold Coast

LED lights have been around for decades, although it was not until recently that the technology became popular for Skin Treatments.

At Face Fit, our skin focused finger is firmly on the pulse with all things “Treatment” and can vouch for LED Therapy. It’s healing properties are second to none and we are so excited to introduce LED Light Therapy to Face Fit and our clients.

What You Need to Know About LED Light Therapy

The light emitting diode therapy uses red, blue, and Near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths of light to treat various skin concerns. Previously, LED light waves have been used by NASA throughout plant growth experiments and there have even been studies on the potentials of LED wound healing abilities.

LED for skin has grown popular due to its many benefits which leave the skin looking plump and youthful (YAS QUEEN). The technology works by emitting light frequencies which are absorbed into the skin. LED skin treatments are a great alternative to chemical peels or laser therapy, they can also compliment other treatments and work as an add on to help enhance your results. The procedure is a 15-30-minute-long treatment and can require up to 10 sessions depending on the clients desired results. LED for skin does not contain ultra-violet rays; therefore, it is safe for regular use. This treatment is all about building healthy skin from the inside out.

How Each Light Frequency Can Benefit Your Skin

Red LED provides extraordinary results as it targets multiple skin concerns. The epidermis (the first layer of your skin) absorbs the light which stimulates collagen production and produces elastin, resulting in fewer fine lines and wrinkles *Love that for us*. The light can also treat sun damage, age spots, scarring and hyperpigmentation by increasing the immune response which helps clear dead cells and repair damaged ones. Reducing inflammation and improving blood circulation are other ways which red LED delivers glowing and youthful results.

The Near-Infrared (NIR) is like red light therapy, except infrared energy is invisible. It also stimulates collagen production. It’s ability to repair skin cells and produce new collagen makes NIR a fantastic treatment for anti-aging. This helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and gives long-lasting firmness to skin that has lost elasticity. Because the NIR light energy only heats the deeper layer of skin that contains collagen, it leaves the top, surface layer unaffected.

The blue LED is a treatment which targets the sebaceous glands located beneath hair follicles. Sebaceous glands can also be referred to as oil glands. The purpose of these glands is to lubricate your skin and hair, stopping them from drying out. Overproduction of oil often causes acne to occur. The blue light actively kills acne causing bacteria under the skin and reduces the activity of sebaceous glands resulting in less oil production. This keeps the follicles cleaner and less likely to become congested. Blue LED also works to decrease scarring, sun damage and skin texture.

As you can imagine, combining all three LED wavelengths into one skin therapy treatment is the perfect cocktail for a youthful, plump, and glowing complexion. The best results can be delivered through a blend of all light therapies over a series of sessions.

Spoil Your Skin with LED

Indulging in other treatments which compliment LED light therapy can enhance and accelerate the results. Many of the treatments discussed below provide similar results as LED light therapy, which is how they manage to improve and accelerate the results.

The HydraFacial removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells and debris. This gentle yet effective alternative to Microdermabrasion exfoliates, cleanses and extracts followed by a fusion of specially formulated serums to target problematic skin concerns including hyperpigmentation, aging, acne, and scarring. It is easy to see how this treatment can enhance LED skin therapy results and vice versa.

Skin Needling uses a Skin Pen with small needles to gently puncture the skin causing thousands of micro injuries. This stimulates collagen production whilst smoothing, tightening, and toning the skin. The treatment is commonly used to reduce acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, loose skin, wrinkles and to minimise pores.

LED Therapy can also be used in addition to Dermal Filler. The LED accelerates the healing process after Cosmetic Injectables. This will aid in preventing bruising, swelling and work as an anti-inflammatory.

Although not completely necessary, doing any of the discussed treatments in conjunction with LED skin therapy can allow patients to see better and faster results. Who would not want that?!
