Here at Face Fit we are all about the skin.

Ensuring our clients are armed with the perfect products is something we are very passionate about. With an overload of information out there on the wide web, selecting skincare can be overwhelming and confusing to know what the right steps are for you and YOUR skin specifically.

This month we are here to offer a few ins and outs (hot little tips if you will) on the benefits of a good face mask and which face mask will work best for your skin type. Often we see new trends erupting through social media with wonderful products promising to give you that picture perfect skin. Like anything in life though, there is no one stop solution which will suit everyone, we are all uniquely different and so is our skin!

Our Dermal Therapists are here to help!

Oily Skin Type

The most well recognised face mask for those with oily skin would have to be a trusty clay mask. We could safely assume that at some point you have tried one of these for yourself. The clay works to absorb excess oil and draw out impurities. Working to clear out clogged pores and remove dirt, and balance excess oil production, the clay mask is perfect for those who tend to experience oily skin.

Charcoal masks are another goodie for oily skin, helping to get deep into those pesky pores and thoroughly purify the skin while simultaneously removing any toxins (double win!). An added bonus is that the appearance of pores will tighten with the removal of any hidden nasties helping to reduce enlarged pores. A charcoal mask is an intensely detoxifying mask acting over time to brighten and clear your skin!

Dry skin type

Charcoal is quite the multitasking little mask and also helps to improve the appearance of dull, dry skin. Drawing out impurities and the daily build-up of dirt whilst adding oxygen to the skin boosts hydration helping you get that natural glow we all love to flaunt.

An exfoliating mask is great for removing unwanted dead or flaky skin. Helping to achieve softer and supple skin this type of mask is great for improving skin texture – (yes please)! By removing dead skin cells, your skin care can penetrate deeper into the skin which in turn becomes more absorbent. With this in mind we must stress that it is important to remember to be gentle with the skin when exfoliating. Just a few (2-3) minutes of massaging this mask into the skin should be more than enough for allowing it to do its job (excessive use may actually damage the skin – a gentle touch is key).

If you have dry skin, consider DOUBLE Masking. Apply a Mask, allow it to nourish your skin and apply once more. For skin that struggles to retain hydration, a double application can be the sure fire way to restore moisture.

Sensitive Skin Type

Those of you who are seeking gentle  mask for sensitive skin should be sure to check for ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Panthenol, Chamomile, and Rosemary which are all kind ingredients acting to soothe the skin and help with inflammation.

Additionally, hydration masks are suitable for sensitive skin types as often those with sensitive skin may experience dryness too. Hyaluronic acid is one of our fave ingredients for adding that extra level of hydration to the skin.
